Basic Patrol Rifle Course

Pre-requisite class to Patrol Rifle Class

Class will meet at: 1st Day, Peru PD, 2650 N. Peoria Street, Peru, IL

2nd day Peru PD Range. 2 Tim Perra Drive, Peru, IL

Course Size:  Maximum – 10

Course Object

This course is designed to take an officer from, never having fired this weapon before, all the way through qualification.  All the basics are covered from, when to deploy, how to operate, and why they’re needed.

This operator program focuses on developing the required skills necessary to safely deploy the AR-15 / M-4 rifle during tactical operations and personal defense applications. This course comprehensively covers the operation of the AR-15 / M-4 rifle and provides students with the gun-handling skills that are necessary to deploy this weapon system in an operator capacity. Students that successfully pass the operator standards drills, qualification course and written test are eligible to receive operator certification.

Each Student need to bring:

AR 15 – Rifle or M4 carbine with iron sights.

300 .223 rifle rounds and 50 pistol rounds.

Also need to bring range items:

Duty Gear (duty pistol and holster)

Sling and Sites

Hat, eye protection, ear protection

NO RIFLE AMMUNITIION IS ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM WITH THE RIFLES, AND THE RIFLES ARE TO BE CHECKED TO ENSURE THEY ARE UNLOADED WHEN BROUGHT IN, AS THEY WILL NEED THEM FOR THE CLASSROOM PORTION

 

Mobile In-Service Training Team#7 Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board

MTU 7 request for certification of this course has been approved by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board

Meets the following mandatory training criteria: Const. Use of LE Authority .50 hours, Legal Updates 1 hour, Procedural Justice .50 hours,
De-Escalation Techniques 10 hours, with 4.5 hours scenario based, and Officer Safety techniques, including cover, concealment and time
9 hours with 7 hours scenario based.
