This training is approved for 6 hours of credit for the annual mandatory coroner continuing education hours and Lead Homicide Recertification Hours approved by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board MTU 7. ABMDI hours are approved.

Course Description: Clandestine Grave and Surface Remains Recovery Course
The Clandestine Grave and Surface Remains Recovery Course is a four-hour introductory course designed to provide detectives, crime scene investigators, medicolegal death investigators, and other investigative personnel with a basic understanding of the search for, documentation of, and recovery of buried and surface human remains.
Instruction is primarily classroom-based and is intended to familiarize students with the concepts, terminology, procedures, and investigative considerations associated with clandestine graves and surface remains scenes. This course serves as an introduction to the topic and is not intended to provide advanced training in forensic anthropology, archaeology, or specialized excavation techniques.
Course Description: Human Remain Detection Dogs – A Field Guide for Law Enforcement
This course will familiarize investigators/officers with the use of human remains detection (HRD) dogs during an investigation.
Course Objectives: How HRD dogs can be utilized during an investigation (surface, buried, water)
What to look for when requesting assistance from a SAR Team – certifications
How to contact SAR Team/HRD Dogs
