Course Size: Minimum –15 Maximum – 20

Course Objective:
This one day, 8-hour program has been designed to provide students with the knowledge and ability to operate during an active shooter/active threat incident using proper tactical skills following applicable laws and Department policies. Students will be exposed to and participate in drills and scenarios designed to teach proper tactics, movements and communication techniques needed to appropriately respond to an active shooter/active threat incident. While this training may use a multitude of different weapon systems that are at the officer’s disposal, the main purpose is to instill proper tactics, movements and communication techniques needed to properly respond to an active shooter/active threat incident, along with techniques to de-escalate when feasible and mitigate officer created jeopardy.
Course Content:
Rapid Response and Deployment tactics are necessary to be implemented during an active shooter/active threat type of incident that requires an immediate response to stop life threatening actions by a dangerous offender.
Topics to be instructed are:
- Team formations and hallway movements
- Room clearing
- Stairway movements
- Custody
- Contact team priorities
- Tactical Medical (Discussion Only)
What to bring:
Patrol Ballistic Vest – Concealed or Outerwear
Duty Belt
MTU #7 will provide Sims and Sims ammo, however if you have you Glock 17T/Converted Marking Round Capable Training Pistol, and a Patrol Rifle Drop in Bolt Conversion/Dedicated Marking Round Converted Rifle you can bring that.
Long sleeves of some sort is suggested for the simunitions portion of training.
Full face mask/protective helmets will also be provided. If students wish to wear their own eye protection/mask they made bring it.
Please dress in full uniform, minus weapons, knifes, tasers, etc.

Any Sworn Law Enforcement Officer

MTU 7 request for certification of this course has been approved by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board
Meets the following mandatory training criteria: Emergency Medical Response Training; 6.50 hours De-Escalation Techniques with 6.50 hours Scenario Based and Officer Safety .50 hours with .50 hours Scenario Based.
