BASIC MARINE LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER COURSE

Course Size: Minimum –10 Maximum – 14
Course Objective
The role of the marine law enforcement officer is to enforce all state laws as well as local and county ordinances and to promote safe boating. Duties include responding to calls for assistance, investigating criminal complaints and boating accidents, watercraft safety inspections, search rescue and recovery as well as crowd control and security for maritime events. Course Content This course covers operation of patrol and rescue watercraft, conducting searches for missing persons, body recovery and article searches, sonar operations, rescue operations vessel boarding and patrol operations as well as ILCS maritime statutes. A practical exercise in the water will be included.
